He focuses on the research including vernacular architecture and rural practice, modern city and architecture, the conservation of culture heritage and architectural design.

He has published above 4 Monographs, pressed about 50 periodical papers and academic conference papers, taken charge 2 research items supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China. He won the Honorable Mention prize of National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation, 2003 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation, the first-place Award of Excellence design in Guangdong (2006), third place award of the International Residential Design Competition (1994, Japanese Shinkenchiku) and other prizes.
