Placemaking Week is a global gathering of placemakers that emphasizes hands-on learning and innovative social events, while leaving behind a public space legacy in host cities.
Project for Public Spaces organized the first three International Placemaking Weeks in Vancouver in 2016, in Amsterdam in 2017, and in Chattanooga in 2019 bringing together 400+ placemakers to learn, network, experience real public spaces, and support a citywide campaign for great places.
Embracing a wide variety of sectors and disciplines, the event creates a dynamic forum for attendees to develop and share concrete strategies to advance placemaking both locally and globally.
While Project for Public Spaces strives to bring together an international community of practitioners at our Placemaking Week gatherings, many like-minded organizations around the world organize regional and local Placemaking Weeks and other events.
To participate in the placemaking movement and learn more about other regional placemaking events, please visit our partners at PlacemakingX, a global network of leaders who together accelerate placemaking as a way to create healthy, inclusive, and beloved communities. This network grew out of earlier efforts by Project for Public Spaces and our partners to convene placemaking leaders around the world.
